Expedite Computerization and Data Updation of MPACS: Chief Secretary

Chief Secretary Issues Directives During Review of Cooperative Department

Shramik Mantr, Dehradun    During a review meeting of the Cooperative Department at the Secretariat, Chief Secretary  Anand Bardhan directed that the computerization and data migration of Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (MPACS) must be completed by December 31, 2025. He instructed that physical data entry will be entirely discontinued from January 1, 2026. To ensure timely completion of computerization and data updation, regular monitoring should be conducted. He emphasized that District Magistrates, district-level cooperative officers, and at the state level, Secretary will oversee the process. A timeline for data updation should be established and circulated to all stakeholders.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need to expand the reach of cooperative institutions to unserved Gram Panchayats by forming new MPACS, dairy, and fishery societies. He also called for improving milk production and quality through modern technologies. He highlighted the importance of promoting dairy as a sustainable livelihood to empower women and rural families.

The Chief Secretary noted that transactions at Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras operated through MPACS are currently very low. He directed authorities to set targets to increase these transactions, aiming to reach a monthly turnover of ₹2 crore by December 2025.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Shri L. Fanai, Secretary Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam, CGM NABARD Shri Pankaj Yadav, Registrar of Cooperatives Shri Meharban Singh Bisht, Additional Secretary Shri Himanshu Khurana, and other senior officials with District Magistrates participated via video conferencing from their respective districts.
